Welcome to Tapestry

Tapestry Work

This blog space is put together really out of necessity.

It feels so overwhelming not to try to somehow capture this life in some way.

We have experienced some the most incredible and miraculous things as we’ve traveled this road.

What God has done and what He is still doing has been intense and amazing and so HARD and so GOOD and so WORTH all the struggle.

When we started out many years ago, we had no idea what would transpire….how any of the pieces that were flying around would eventually fit together.

It was impossible to see how the Lord would use such unique threads, that came from all different places, together to make something that worked together.

Tapestry work……TAPESTRY : An embroidery, usually worked on a warp of linen or other thread by hand.

The design is usually woven into a picture.

This is what has been happening here.

The Lord gave us this word Tapestry as we began to see that He was working on something beautiful that we couldn’t see or understand.

My husband and I met in Junior high…we didn’t date until High School and even then our lives were oddly put together — him from the athletic crowd and me from a mix of drama, music and moodiness!

We will call those the first threads………neither of us were paying attention to the divine plans being made.

At that time we didn’t love Jesus, we didn’t acknowledge anything about him really.

Like many we made a lot of mistakes and stumbled around trying to make a life for ourselves.

Jesus was doing His work weaving and planning and moving and shaking…we were blessed beyond belief as He repaired all the things that we broke, He unraveled all the knots and snags that we kept trying to weave together ourselves!

After some reconstruction and healing we were married in February of 2000 and we began living our dream.

We had 3 amazing sons — you will hear some of those beginnings as we get going here on this blog :)

These were more beautiful threads that were unique and complicated, again through each of their births, Jesus was weaving something we couldn’t see.

It was through them, that He began to teach us what true love + suffering + amazing grace and mercy would build throughout our lives.

In 2011, our family of 5 moved into a new home with more space than we had ever had! It was such a gift to rent from friends and have an incredible space to raise our 3 growing boys in.

A few months after moving in we got a phone call that seemed so harmless and random….little did we know it was a couple more threads that were being added to the picture.

That call changed our lives and from there, we really haven’t had the chance to look back much (coming soon the story of 2 trees, and our first YES)

Our story points to the unraveling of who we are and every single one of our expectations and the weaving together that Jesus would do — we never deserved a bit of His goodness and His blessing but we live now, so deeply saturated in it.

I hope you will come to this place and see Jesus….I hope you see the imperfect mess of people and circumstance  and see how GOOD our God is.

How he takes the frazzled and frayed threads of our lives and weaves them into an incredibly beautiful picture that displays His amazing power and overwhelming love.
